The Connecticut Civil Liberties Union has asked a federal judge to force New Haven school officials to discontinue their practice of barring children infected with aids from the classroom.
In a lawsuit filed Feb. 1 on behalf of two of the affected children, the cclu says the practice violates state and federal laws protecting the handicapped.
Though New Haven schools have no formal policy for handling infected students, according to the law group, as many as four children have been denied permission to attend classes.
