First lady Laura Bush was headed to Paris this week for an international conference on missing and exploited children. Gordon Johndroe, the first lady’s press secretary, told White House reporters on Jan. 11 that Mrs. Bush planned to discuss how education was a crucial factor in reducing the exploitation of women and children. The conference was scheduled for Jan. 14-17. Mrs. Bush also planned to visit the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization headquarters in Paris.
