Television is the number-one distraction when it comes to doing homework, according to a survey of more than 800 Boys & Girls Club members between the ages of 6 and 18.

According to an August 2005 online survey by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the JC Penney Afterschool Fund, 52 percent of students are lured away from their studies by television. The survey also found that a little more than half the students—56 percent—said their parents help them with their homework.
