Teachers Compete for $10K Innovation Award

By Liana Loewus — October 27, 2011 1 min read

Four teachers remain in a competition for a $10,000 classroom grant, which will be decided by a public online vote. Thousands of teachers were nominated for The Great American Teach-Off, hosted by the online community GOOD (whose tagline is “For People Who Give a Damn”) and the University of Phoenix, for their creativity and innovation in the classroom.

The semi-finalists include a 3rd grade teacher who began a free tutoring program for military children and a special education teacher who has taught three generations of the same families. Go to the GOOD website to watch videos on each of these four teachers and to vote for your favorite (which you can do up to once a day). The contest ends Nov. 7.
