In an interview with the MinnPost, Dr. Eugenie Scott, executive director of the nonprofit advocacy group the National Center for Science Education, says that science teachers are increasingly coming under fire for teaching about climate change.
We're getting lots of anecdotes from teachers about pressure against teaching climate change and we really want to be there to support them and to encourage them to do the professionally and educationally responsible thing and to help generate support in communities for the teaching of good science.
The NCSE posts resources for teaching climate change here. It’s also worth noting that the draft “Next Generation” common science standards explicitly cover the issue, attributing trends in global warming in large part to human activity. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
