Oklahoma adopted the standards yesterday, bringing the total to 15, unless we’ve missed something.

An Oklahoma department of education spokeswoman explained that the state school board unanimously voted to adopt the standards on an emergency-status basis, a rule facilitated by the state legislature in its bid to position itself for Race to the Top funding. Still ahead is a process leading to permanent adoption of the standards. (The item for the common standards is under the “legal services” portion of the agenda.)

Going its own way, Virginia issued a statement yesterday saying it would not adopt the common standards, though that’s nothing new.
