Add the STEM Education Coalition to the list of folks who are opposed to the Republican-backed rewrite of the No Child Left Behind Act, which is up for debate today in the U.S. House.

This broad-based group of business and education leaders includes Microsoft Corp., the National Science Teachers Association, the American Chemical Society, Texas Instruments, and Time Warner Cable.

Their chief complaint? The bill would give short shrift to STEM education and in fact would abolish the Mathematics and Science Partnerships program.
