Federal budget cuts will eliminate the next administration of the science portion of the National Assessment of Educational Progress for the 21 large urban districts that volunteer to have their students’ results publicly reported.

Because of an estimated five percent reduction in NAEP’s fiscal 2015 budget, governing board members voted to trim back several pieces of the “nation’s report card”, including the science exam for the districts that participate in the Trial Urban District Assessment. My colleague Sarah Sparks over at Inside School Research has the full picture of cutbacks to NAEP.

NAEP reading and math assessments for grades 4 and 8 will happen as scheduled for the 21 TUDA districts.
