It’s the fifth annual National School Choice Week this week, and organizers say there are over 11,000 events and rallies planned by local organizations across the country.
That’s double the number of events held last year during this time.
The aim of National School Choice Week is to highlight all aspects of school choice including charter schools, private schools, magnet schools, online schools and home schooling.
As one example of the events on tap, students and representatives of National School Choice week plan to ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange Monday.
National organizers say there are also plans to hold rallies supporting school choice in at least 15 state capitals. Overall, Florida has the most events planned, followed by California. You can search to find out what events are being held in your area, here.
