Federal agents have raided the offices of a network of Los Angeles charters, but the leaders of Celerity Schools’ four Louisiana schools said they have had no contact with authorities.
Celerity started in California more than a decade ago and operates seven schools there. The group opened four schools in Louisiana in 2014.
The Los Angeles Times, which broke the story, reported that the warrants for the raid are under seal and that several agencies are involved, including the FBI and the local U.S. attorney. The newspaper described the raid as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of fraud and fiscal mismanagement at Celerity, apparently growing out of an inquiry by the district’s inspector general.
