Raymond L. “Ray” Daniels has announced that he will retire as the superintendent of the Kansas City, Kan., public schools.
Mr. Daniels, 62, who has served in that job since 1998, will have been an educator in the 20,000-student district for 40 years when he retires in July 2005.
The district’s board of education is beginning the process of searching for a new superintendent to fill the position, which currently pays $134,600 a year.
