About 75 percent of parents report that they remain in the room while their children use the Internet, according to a recent survey of parents with children under the age of 18 who have home Internet access.
The survey—commissioned by the New York City-based Conference Board, a nonprofit organization that conducts marketing research for businesses—also found more than a third of the parents surveyed check the Web-browser history after their children have been online to track their activity.
The results are based on a quarterly survey of 10,000 households, conducted in the third quarter of 2004.
