Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush sat down with Reason.tv’s Nick Gillespie to talk about the future of education and technology’s role in its eventual transformation.

Bush’s comments build on the 10 Elements of High Quality Digital Learning released by Bush and Bob Wise in December through their advocacy group Digital Learning Now! The group aims to advance policies that support education technology in the classroom.

I wonder how Bush’s view—that technology should not be an add-on, but rather a core part of education—jives with the International Society for Education’s stance on the Enhancing Education Through Technology fund, a zeroed-out dedicated funding stream for technology that ISTE claims is essential to moving ahead with ed-tech. Is Bush siding with President Barack Obama on this one—that technology should be funded through education as a whole rather than as its own separate source?
