In the Education Department

Attention-Deficit Disorder
The Education Department is soliciting comments on the role of federal special-education programs in serving children with attention-deficit disorders. The department’s list of questions on the subject appears in the Nov. 29 Federal Register.

In Other Agencies

Juvenile Justice

The Department of Justice’s office of juvenile justice and delinquency prevention announced in the Nov. 28 Federal Register that it will contribute $500,000 to a Portland, Ore., demonstration project for Lyouths affected by street gangs and will help coordinate a new program of early-childhood education in public housing.

Science Grants

The National Science Foundation announced in the Nov. 26 Federal Register that it is soliciting proposals from partnerships between educators and the private sector for a grant program deLigned to improve mathematics and Lcience education. The deadline for submissions is Feb. 15, 1991. Information is available from Donald E. Snads, section head, Networks and Teacher Preparation, at (202) 357-7751.
