The bill many of you have been waiting for has been introduced.
My colleagues on the Politics K-12 blog wrote a must-read, comprehensive post about the proposed All Children Are Equal Act, which would change the Title 1 funding formula so that it no longer gives more money to low-income students in larger, more-affluent districts than it does to similar students in smaller, poorer districts.
They offer great insight into the politics behind the bill and the likelihood of it passing. Rural education advocates see this legislation as critical; it’s one of the top legislative priorities of the Rural School and Community Trust, which organized the Formula Fairness Campaign that has pushed for changes to the Title I formula.
