North Carolina

North Dakota

Michael O. Leavitt* (R) defeated Jim Bradley (D)

Vermont

* Incumbent

**Ms. Jacobson was selected in place of the original Democratic nominee, Chet Blaylock, who died last month.

In North Dakota and Washington state, the candidates ran on a nonpartisan ballot.
