Quick programming note: Education Week Top School Jobs will be holding a virtual career fair tomorrow, Thurs. March 6, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET. More than 40 education employers will have booths at the event. There will also be career-advice chats, strengths-assessment activities, and professional-development presentations.
On that score, from 2-3 p.m., we will be moderating the event “keynote” webinar with Dale Rose on “The Science of Teacher Selection: Insights for Candidates & Recruiters.” Rose, an expert on leadership development and human-resources assessment, is the lead author of the recently published Hire Better Teachers Now (Harvard Education Press). I’ve seen his slides for the webinar, and he has some fascinating information to share on how school systems are using increasingly sophisticated analytical methods to screen and select job candidates. Conversely, he’ll have some helpful tips on how educators can identify schools that are a good fit for them and best position themselves to increase their chances of being hired. So if you’re interested in advancing your career—and why shouldn’t you be?—this is the place to be.
You can register for the event here. And note that if the time for the live webinar isn’t good for you, the presentation will be available “on demand” through March 31.
