My 13 year old daughter loves this game. Her versions are questions like: Would you rather eat through your nose or drink through your ears? Would you rather walk on your hands or wear your clothes backwards?

Looking at teaching, we can spin this game differently to help educators find their dream job.

Would you rather:

Work local or are you willing to move?

  • Willingness to move will create more opportunities.

Be urban, suburban or rural?

  • Willingness to teach in different locations creates additional opportunities.

Be in a district, charter or private school?

  • Districts, charters and private schools have different opportunities within their organizations, so do your homework.

Interview every day until you find your dream job or take the first job you are offered?

  • While interviewing, keep track of your choices in order of where you want to be. If you are offered a positon, be thoughtful. Only accept the position if you plan on being there the entire year. If you need a day to think about it, ask for it. Then call your top choice and say you’ve had an offer and would like to know if they are close to a decision. Once you accept a position, stop interviewing, stop looking for something better and be committed to decision. The school, administration, students and community are all counting on you.
