I’m the new state education policy reporter for EdWeek, though, as some of you know, I’m neither new to reporting nor new to this newspaper. I recently rejoined EdWeek, where I worked from 2002 to 2009, after a stint away from the paper.
In my previous tour here I covered math and science, among other topics. Earlier in my career, I worked for newspapers in Florida and Tennessee, where I covered a good amount of state and local government, so this beat is in many ways familiar territory.
On this blog I’ll be writing about state politics—which this time of year means elections—finance, and federal policies that affect the states, from their plans to implement Race to the Top to state efforts to turn around struggling schools.
Some of the best blog fodder comes from readers, so please send along your ideas. And away we go....
