I have been invited to lead or participate in presentations around selection, strategic compensation, and performance management at the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) 74th Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois October 31 through November 3. AASPA is the only HR-education focused organization, providing resources, networking, and professional development opportunities. There are more than 1,600 AASPA members across the world.
Last year I attended the conference in Reno, Nevada, and as a Talent Manager and HR Professional in education, it was one of the most useful experiences I have had! Hundreds of HR professionals from districts and state agencies from around the country gather to network and most importantly learn from each other. Staying up-to-date in the HR field is difficult so sharing and reflecting with other professionals is important.
This year, the conference will include keynote speakers, a President’s Reception at the Art Institute of Chicago, and more than 75 workshops covering pertinent HR topics and best practices around compensation, benefits, legal issues, hiring, professional development, data, diversity, HR information and data management systems, evaluation, performance management, recruiting, health and wellness, branding, engagement, social networking, and more.
I would encourage all education-focused, HR professionals to consider attending the conference to expand your learning and grow your list of “friends” in the HR community. If you are attending, come by and see me!
