You might remember our telling you about Detroit’s plan to rescue 17 of its high schools by bringing in four outside entities to manage them. It didn’t take long for the school board decided to sue to stop that plan.
Today the Detroit News opens that plan up to discussion, drawing mixed reactions. Even before it starts, there is plenty of skepticism to go around.
No one is saying that transforming dysfunctional high schools is an easy lift. In case you missed it, this Washington Post story describes the challenge quite vividly. It isn’t cheerful reading.
