Parents in Florida will have even more school choices in 2017-18.
The state already has a wide variety of school options, but it is adding to its menu with a new law that lets children move to schools outside of their districts with few restrictions.
It’s joining a slowly growing trend of states that allow interdistrict transfers, although some have tight rules for doing so.
Even high school athletes will be able to play sports right away if they transfer under the Florida law.
Find out more about Florida’s new law and how other states are handling mandatory interdistrict open enrollment issues in my story that came out in Education Week this week.
