What’s New in Teacher PD: Read a Book, Get Graduate Credit

By Francesca Duffy — July 09, 2012 1 min read

Here’s a new take on continuing education for busy teachers: Corwin, together with California Lutheran University, has just launched a professional development initiative in which teachers can acquire one unit of graduate course credit for reading a Corwin book—yes, any Corwin book—and completing a written assignment within three months. Through Read 2 Earn, educators can receive an unlimited number of individual credits, but only three course credits can be applied toward a graduate degree from California Lutheran University. The program costs $199 per book study.

As the Corwin site touts, “It’s as simple as 1-2-3!” (That is, read, pay, write.) And considering Corwin has published over 2,000 books, it shouldn’t be too hard to find a title you’re interested in. Thoughts on this PD innovation?
