Tammy Wilson, principal at Discovery Community School in St. Cloud, Minn., couldn’t find any books that resonated with her Somali students.
Believing that children should be able to see themselves in literature, she decided to write one herself. Days after the book was released, she talked with the students whose stories influenced and inspired the book. What did they have to say?
