The Washington Post is reporting that Kaya Henderson, a deputy chancellor under Michelle Rhee who has been serving as the interim schools chief, will soon be appointed permanently to the job.
Mayor Vincent Gray, who defeated Rhee patron Adrian M. Fenty in last year’s elections, has reportedly not considered any other candidates to lead the 45,000-student district. The Post article notes that Gray recently appointed a chancellor selection advisory panel, but the panel has met once, on Feb. 24, and only considered Henderson.
Rhee resigned from the school system in October, and has started her own advocacy group, StudentsFirst.
