As school-home connections become increasingly reliant on computers and smartphones, GreatSchools is making school calendars more accessible for parents.
GreatSchools has teamed up with Tandem, an online tool that schools can use to post free, updated calendar information, to add school calendars to its website to help parents stay abreast of their students’ increasingly busy schedules.
GreatSchools is a national nonprofit that provides online profiles of 200,000 public and private pre-K-12 schools as a tool for parents to research schools. The website also posts articles, videos, and worksheets providing parents with practical tips to support their children’s education.
More than 25 percent of GreatSchools.org users access the website to stay connected to their schools. The company believes that adding online calendars to its school profiles will make it easier for parents to download important information like school start dates, enrollment deadlines, and holidays to calendars on their computers and smartphones. Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium also is supporting the company’s effort.
“GreatSchools is always working to provide families with more news and insights about their schools, and to help families and schools communicate,” the company said in a release this week.
