‘Batkid’ Throws Out First Pitch at San Francisco Giants’ 2014 Home Opener

A five-year-old leukemia survivor known as “Batkid” stole the show at the San Francisco Giants’ home opener on Tuesday.

You may remember Batkid—whose actual name is Miles Scott—from an awe-inspiring Make-a-Wish adventure through San Francisco last November. Scott dressed up as a mini-Batman and helped saved the city, renamed “Gotham” for the day, from nefarious baddies such as The Riddler and The Penguin.

After saving the Giants’ mascot, Lou Seal, from The Penguin, the MLB squad decided to honor the city’s young hero during their home opener on Tuesday. They invited Batkid to throw out the game’s first pitch, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.

According to The Associated Press, Scott was diagnosed with cancer when he was 18 months old. He’s been in remission since June of last year.

Here’s hoping Batkid can keep up his crime-stopping ways for years to come. Perhaps LeBron James can give him a call?
