Last month, I profiled a group of scrappy teachers in Oklahoma frustrated by a series of debilitating budget cuts to public schools and a fast-moving accountability and school choice movement.

Instead of teacher-lounge griping and channeling their activism through the state’s teachers’ union, the teachers filed to run for the Oklahoma legislature, an unusual and ambitious move that’s shocked and angered the state’s political establishment. If enough of them win this November, they could potentially nudge the conservative state to the left on several education-related issues.

My colleague, Lisa Stark, did an awesome video version of the story. It aired on PBS NewsHour last night.
