Just like their counterparts at traditional public schools, many charter school students and teachers are knee-deep in implementation of the Common Core State Standards.
And some argue the standards could also indirectly affect students outside the public schools system, such as home schoolers, if college admittance tests retool themselves to better align with the standards.
Education Week recently released a special report on the math portion of the standards, so I sat down with my coworker Liana Heitin, one of our curriculum and instruction reporters, to discuss what’s changing under common-core math while busting some myths about the standards.
