You might have noticed new faces and names on this blog. We are your new curriculum beat reporters and bloggers.

Don’t worry, nothing serious has befallen Sean Cavanagh, Kathleen Manzo, or Mary Ann Zehr, who watched over the beat with great care and expertise. Sean went on to a new job at the Academy of Educational Development (we’re still mourning), and Kathleen and Mary Ann are focusing on other topics here at EdWeek (technology in Kathleen’s case, and high-need students in Mary Ann’s).

We each bring more than a decade of education reporting experience to our work as the curriculum team. Erik has covered federal and state policy and the charter schools sector. Catherine has covered urban education, with a particular focus on high school policy and college- and career-readiness. In our new beat area, we look forward to participating in a lively discussion with you about standards, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
