The Teacher Magazine Editorial Internship

Teacher Magazine, an independent, national magazine that covers K-12 education, offers one editorial internship each spring, summer, and fall. The magazine, twice a finalist for a National Magazine Award for general excellence (100,000-400,000 circulation category), reports on the teaching profession, school policy and culture, and the people who influence education. Interns write short articles and sidebars, proofread and fact-check articles, research and write the "Calendar" section of the magazine, and assist staff with special projects.


Strong writing and speaking skills;
Attention to detail, ability to work independently and reliably

Graduate students or college students working toward a career in journalism are encouraged to apply.


Interns are paid $8/hour and work 15 hours a week for 12 to 15 weeks. Teacher Magazine is located in a suburb of Washington, D.C., and is accessible by Washington’s Metro subway system.

Fall 2005: Applications are due Aug. 1. Applicants will be notified of their status by Aug. 15. Internship starts in September and ends in December.
