K-6 Connections.

Classroom Connect, a division of Wentworth Worldwide Media Inc., has launched its new K-6 WebGuide. The site features descriptions of more than 60 educational sites covering such subjects as art, music, math, science, geography, and literature. It also discusses ideas for Internet curricula for the K-6 classroom. A special section, “Teaching with Technology,” shows how to download lesson plans, sign up for on-line projects, and network on-line with other educators. Web address: http://www.classroom.net.

Space Education.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Johnson Space Center has created a Web site for educators. The site, which is part of NASA’s Multimedia Space Educator’s Handbook for K-12 teachers, includes information about NASA, space history, and space technology. Movies from the space program’s archives can be downloaded and used as teaching aids. The site also features pictures and narratives describing planets, stars, comets, and meteorites. Web address: http://tommy.jsc.nasa.gov/~woodfill/SPACEED/SEHHTML/. For more information about the Space Educator’s Handbook contact: Jerry Woodfill at NASA, (713) 483-6331.

Weather On-line.

Students can explore the world of weather using the University of Michigan’s Weather Underground site. It offers information about current weather conditions and forecasts, weather imagery, educational software, and curriculum activities for K-12 students. The site also offers a middle school curriculum guide for studying blizzards, hurricanes, and other severe storms. Web address: http://blueskies.sprl.umich.edu/.

Cable Programming.

Cable in the Classroom, a public service project of local and national cable-television companies, has a site listing free educational cable programming available to schools across the country. Web address: http://www.ciconline.com.

Your Personal Net.
