In one of her final acts as secretary of labor, Ann D. McLaughlin has launched a new clearinghouse for information about child-care programs.
The Women’s Bureau Work and Family Clearinghouse is a computer data bank containing profiles of dependent-care efforts, according to the Labor Department. It will include information about on- and off-site centers, family day care, flexible-leave policies, financial assistance, and public-private partnerships.
In addition, the clearinghouse will provide national and state information sources, bibliographic references, conference information,8and research and statistics.
The department plans to expand the data base to include information about care for the elderly.
Those interested in the project can contact the clearinghouse at the Labor Department, Room S-3309, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210.
