Districts Opting Out of Louisiana’s Career-Track Diploma

Remember the “career track” diploma that Louisiana approved recently? Well, districts are scrambling for the chance not to offer it this fall.

According to The Times Picayune, 19 of the state’s 70 school districts got waivers from the state board of education.

Given the charges that the career-track diploma does students a disservice because it carries less-stringent graduation requirements, it will be interesting to see how many of these waived-out districts get back on board for 2010-11.
