The Alliance for Excellent Education, which advocates policies supporting high school improvement, has a new policy brief out today urging Congress to hurry up and reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (as the Obama administration prefers to call the No Child Left Behind Act).
Former West Virginia Gov. Bob Wise, who heads the alliance, argues that with all the stimulus money flowing, and the common standards movement humming along, the federal law needs to be revised in a way that supports those reforms. And the brief outlines the ways the alliance thinks the revamped ESEA should do that.
The brief is the latest in a series the Alliance is doing to get the message to lawmakers about how ESEA should be reworked in order to best support high school reform. The others are here, here, and here.
