Social Media in the Classroom and Building the Digital District are collections of recent stories published in Education Week, and both can be downloaded in PDF form for free.
Education Week has offered a number of packages of stories on technology in the classroom, but these Spotlights offer new examples of educators integrating technology into instruction.
Topics in the social media package include identifying smart and safe social networking practices tailored for K-12 schools, creating social media and networking guidelines at the district-level, and using Twitter as part of classroom instruction.
Topics in the digital district package include designing an effective and safe “bring your own technology” program for schools; forming multi-district virtual-learning collaborations to reduce expenses and pool resources; preventing and withstanding a district data crash; and using cloud computing technology to offer digital textbooks and curriculum.
