Photos: A Day in the Life of a Principal (2016 Edition)

In this special photo project, we asked principals who use Twitter and Instagram to share images that capture their daily lives as school leaders.

Education Week is asking principals who use Twitter and Instagram to post photos throughout the day on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, that capture the moments that represent their daily lives as school leaders. We ask that principals use the hashtag #APrincipalsDay.

Our aim is to gather a wide variety of images from school leaders in remote, rural, suburban, urban, and even international settings to show the differences and similarities that principals share in their demanding, yet rewarding jobs.

Education Week will curate the images and assemble them into a photo gallery to showcase the fascinating and multi-faceted dimensions of the principals’ job.

How to Participate:
  • Share your photos on Feb. 9th via Twitter or Instagram with #APrincipalsDay.
  • Include a caption that tells where the photo was taken and describes what's happening.
  • Be sure submitted photographs conform to your school media policies regarding publication of identifiable students. And please read the fine print below about how your images might be used.

The Fine Print:
Submitted photographs must conform to your local school media policies regarding publication of identifiable students. By submitting photographs to us, you are affirming that you hold the copyright for the images and are giving Education Week permission to publish them. Editors at Education Week will review all submitted images, then select suitable and appropriate photographs for an online gallery that will appear on edweek.org. Education Week staff may choose a representative sample of these photographs to appear in a future print issue of Education Week as well. While you maintain the copyright to submitted photographs, Education Week may reuse these photographs to promote and/or advertise this project.
