Not Enrolled in Preschool: A State-by-State Breakdown

One-third of the 4.3 million 3- and 4-year-olds who are not enrolled in school across the nation live in four large states: California, Florida, New York, and Texas. California accounts for the largest share, at more than 12 percent.

Note: Results are based on an analysis of data from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (2008-2013). Details may not add up to 100 percent due to rounding.
