Tom Boasberg, the superintendent of the Denver district, is stepping aside after 10 years.
Boasberg was appointed superintendent in 2009. He joined the district in 2007 as its chief financial officer. Previously, he served as a telecommunications executive.
Andre L. Green has been named the executive director of the National Center for Fair & Open Testing. He replaces Monty Neill, FairTest's longtime leader, who is retiring.
Green has worked as a teacher, a juvenile-detention-center case manager, and at YouthBuild USA to help disadvantaged young people earn high school credentials while developing job skills. Most recently, he served as the political director at MASSCreative, Massachusetts' statewide arts-advocacy group.
Nancy Gutiérrez will become the next president and CEO of the NYC Leadership Academy as of Oct. 1. She succeeds Irma Zardoya, who has held the position since 2011.
Gutiérrez began her career as a teacher and principal in California. She started at the leadership academy in 2014 as its chief strategy officer. Before that, she launched a program for executive leadership advancement for the New York City education department.
Stephanie Hirsh will retire as the executive director of Learning Forward next June. She has served in that capacity since 2007.
Hirsh joined what was then known as the National Staff Development Council in 1988. She began her career in education as a teacher and then an administrator in Texas.
Marc Tucker is stepping down as the president and CEO of the National Center on Education and the Economy after leading the organization for 30 years.
Succeeding him as of Jan. 1 will be Anthony "Tony" Mackay, who has long advised governments around the world on issues of school leadership, teacher quality, and student achievement. Mackay has been the senior adviser to the NCEE for three years. He has served in leadership roles in many education organizations in Australia, as well as in other countries such as New Zealand and England.
Tucker, who founded the NCEE in 1988, will continue to work with the organization.
