States are exploring ways to provide academic and college credit for students’ experience serving in the military, according to a new study by the Education Commission of the States.
It found that 29 states and the District of Columbia include policies to give academic credit for the training, coursework, and experience that young people get in the military. For example, Florida requires all public colleges and universities to award credit based on standards by the American Council on Education to define course and degree requirements.
And Texas is developing standardized curricula for military students to ensure their credit transfers to colleges.
