Gov. Mary Fallin issued an executive order last week that she said will shield Oklahoma from federal overreach into its public schools, even as the state implements the Common Core State Standards.

She joins GOP Govs. Terry Branstad of Iowa, Paul LePage of Maine, and Jan Brewer of Arizona in officially announcing through an executive order that he or she won't tolerate federal intrusion into classrooms through the common core, and in asserting the supremacy of the state in making decisions about standards.

These executive orders do not mean that a state is repealing the common core.
