Parental Involvement Is a Bonus, Not a Given

To the Editor:

Regarding the article "Parental Engagement Proves No Easy Goal" (April 4, 2012), I believe that if we are a profession, we must succeed with every child regardless of parental involvement.

Let's take parental involvement when we can get it, but when we can't get it, let's make school a place where every child wants to be and where every child achieves success. We can no longer hide behind the excuse that parents aren't involved.
