A report from a national advocacy group highlights five districts where prekindergarten has been at the center of school turnaround efforts.
The Washington-based Pre-K Now examines districts in Whitley County, Ky.; Pittsburgh; St. Charles, Mo.; Guilford County, N.C.; and Fresno County, Calif. Current guidelines for federal School Improvement Grants permit full-day kindergarten and pre-K to be strategies for “transformation” schools, but the report calls for the program to “explicitly include funding for comprehensive P-3 strategies.”
