Silicon Valley Education Foundation

The Miami-based Knight Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports communities and journalism, and the San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco Systems, a software company, have donated grants of $1.7 million and $400,000, respectively, to start the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, which will support education initiatives in 34 school districts in the Silicon Valley area. The SVEF includes the merger of two education foundations, the San Jose Education Foundation and the Santa Clara County Education Foundation.
