Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant

Educational Testing Service, a Lawrenceville, N.J.-based nonprofit research organization that administers the SAT college admissions test, has received an $800,000 grant from the Seattle-based Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The grant will be used to conduct a two-part study on improving education for traditionally underserved populations

Training for Online Teaching

The Southern Regional Education Board, the Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that works with education leaders to improve K-12 education in its 16 member states, has received a $320,000 grant from the AT&T Foundation, the San Antonio-based philanthropic arm of the AT&T Corp. The grant will be used to develop high-quality training programs for online instructors, and over the next year SREB will launch a Web site to support the training of online instructors.
