To the Editor:

With so much critically important work to be done in preparing teaching candidates, particularly in the area of reading instruction, education colleges, schools, and departments ought not invest any more energy in trying to correct the conceptually and methodologically flawed study/report from the National Council on Teacher Quality ("Teacher-Quality Council to Revise Ed. School Reviews," National Roundup, Aug. 30, 2006). The failure of the document to meet any reasonable standard of quality warrants its being discredited and then discarded.
