New Web Site Promotes ‘Open Source’ Technologies
A new Web site designed to help educators understand the benefits of open-source technologies was unveiled last month by the Washington-based Consortium for School Networking, or COSN.
The site, www.k12opentech.org, provides information on such technologies, which often are free to use and can be tailored by users to their specific needs.
The Web site is part of COSN’s Open Technologies Leadership Initiative, which was launched in March at the nonprofit group’s international symposium in Washington. The initiative is co-sponsored by IBM, based in White Plains, N.Y., and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, of Menlo Park, Calif.
