Oregon Union Snubs Governor
Oregon’s influential state affiliate of the National Education Association has refused to endorse Gov. Theodore R. Kulongoski in his bid for a second term, further pressuring the Democrat, who is in a tight battle with two other candidates in the May 16 party primary. The 45,000-member Oregon Education Association voted at its March 10-11 conference not to endorse a candidate for governor. The union instead voted to remain neutral—at least for the primary.
