Ore. Certificates Mulled
Oregon state schools Superintendent Susan Castillo has proposed replacing the state’s controversial advanced-achievement certificates for high school graduates. The voluntary Certificate of Initial Mastery and Certificate of Advanced Mastery never caught on after their creation in 1991, she said in a Dec. 9 speech. Ms. Castillo and the state board of education are working to build a better, more relevant system, she added.
