Jim McBride, formerly the distance education branch leader for the Wyoming Department of Education, has been appointed as the state’s interim superintendent of education.
Mr. McBride, 56, took over the position Aug. 18. He succeeds Trent Blankenship, who left with 16 months remaining on his term to become the district superintendent in Barrow, Alaska.
Before joining the Wyoming department, Mr. McBride was the superintendent of the 1,000-student Bennett, Colo., district.
And in Illinois, the state board of education has announced that Randy J. Dunn, who has been the interim state superintendent of schools since September 2004, will be the permanent state chief through Jan. 31, 2007.
